All You Need to Know

Welcome to Everyday Wellness.  I started my journey as an RN because it is all I ever wanted to be.  However, working in the medical field soon showed me that all of the life-changes I wanted to help my clients make was near impossible because our system is not set up for that. I knew then that preventive medicine was where I would end up,  I just didn't know it would take me so long to get here.

My journey was derailed at the age of 24 when I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.  Because of the extent of my disease when it was found, getting rid of it proved to be an extended journey.   Unfortunately, the nutrition advice given to patients is dismal at best. So, I began learning everything about nutrition to make sure my body was able to handle my treatments, and hopefully heal itself.

Five children later, I continued my self-education and tried to instill that into my kids.  As a busy mom of all those kids, while also dealing with health issues, I had to learn quick, affordable and nutrient-dense meals that my kids would eat.  This is no easy task for parents and many times processed and fast foods win out.  This sets the stage for chronic disease and unhealthy relationships with food, weight and sometimes even yourself.  I saw this pattern play out everyday in the medical field as well as in people around me.

When it came time to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up, I knew that it included helping others find their own version of wellness.  So I joined my kids at college! I received my Masters of Science in Nutrition and Integrated Health through the Maryland University of Integrative Health in 2019. Through a Board Exam and over one thousand supervised Clinical hours, I received my Certified Nutrition Specialist certification, which allowed me to become a Licensed Dietician/Nutritionist here in Illinois.

My philosophy is simple - eat real food and enjoy doing it.  Nutrition information has become a merry-go-round of this is good, this is bad.  Common sense and evolution tell me that eating should not be that hard and we should not need multitudes of supplements to keep us healthy.

Whether you’re looking to be your best you or you need professional guidance in order to address a specific health issue, I want to be a source of guidance and support. Together we can create your version of wellness, everyday.
